A couple of graph questions (mounting and compatibility) #12348998 07/20/17 01:44 AM

Hey guys,
I have a couple questions. I am installing a HB 1199 and I already have a Lowrance Elite running now. I plan to install the SI transducer on a transducer shield on the left side of the jackplate. What kind of interference would I get if I mount the Lowrance (83/200 Skimmer Down Imaging) on the left side? Would I need to mount it a couple inches above the HB ducer? Would I have to keep them on separate freq.s? If it is not worth it I will just pull the Lowrance ducer and use it strictly for my maps.

Which brings me to my second question. I have a 2000 ZX185. I am wanting to remove the flasher from the instrument panel and mount a RAM mount ball there. Has anyone ever done anything like that? I got under the console today and looked and there is not much there to "grab on to" as far as a stable mounting for the ball. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I made the subject self explanatory because I have noticed a lot of "click bait" style vague-ness on here recently. Are people just trying to see how high they can get their view numbers or what? Annoying.

Thanks in advance guys!

Both units use the same frequencies. The 1199 uses 200 kHz all the time regardless of what 2D frequency you choose to view.
Like frequencies will cross-talk when the pulses overlap. It is a sure thing when they are that close.
Set the L to use 83 kHz and use different SI and DS frequencies.

The SI transducer has to be low enough so the SI pulse can "see" past the hull sponson.

Thanks Wayne. The ducer is mounted on a Transducer Saver "L" bracket off the jackplate. It currently has the Lowrance ducer in it but I ordered the lower portion that fits the XHD9 HB ducer today. It hangs down lower than the sponsons. It kinda sounds like it would be most logical to just pull the Lowrance ducer out and use it for maps and use the HB for sonar/DI/SI. Running both sounds like more trouble than it's worth so far.

Have you considered moving the Lowrance transducer to your TM and mounting up front?

David, I already have the identical unit and ducer on the trolling motor.

In that case, dedicated mapping on the elite may be the way to go.

Depending on the size (7" for sure, 9" maybe) I would still be moving it up to the front to double my screen area (dedicated mapping up front, or an easier to read four-way split. But then I lose the ability to set a waypoint at the console and jump up to fish it on the front deck.
