Help! I'm trying to replace my two front pedestal seat posts with taller ones, but I can't get the old ones out. Anybody got any ideas on how to remove the Springfield Taper-loc posts - without tearing up the floor?

Thanks in advance!

On an old Champion I sprayed WD 40 on the shafts and let it soak down into the plate hole. After penetration time I used a pipe wrench and broke them loose.

I did spray the pipe and let it soak, but my posts have a deep grove in the tube which will not let it turn in the base. Still trying to get them out using two hydraulic jacks, one on each side of the seat base - pushing up on the metal base plate, but it keeps slipping off.

I finally got them out; was a real hassle. I used 409 to loosen them, then using a small hydraulic floor jack, applied pressure under the seat base - between the flange in the floor. Then, used a hammer to strike the base plate on the opposite side of the jack. This simultaneous pressure allowed the base to come out, slowly!

Thanks for your input.
