I've have insurance on my boats for over 20 years and never had a claim... I was on river yesterday and hit submerged stump and managed to bump a big dead tree and the limb broke off and landed directly on my 25 hp Etec cowling and it crushed it and my back deck lid (aluminum).
I was in the floor after hitting stump, lucky I had kill switch and life jacket on, could have been worse.
Motor will not go into gear and cowling in history Any advice before calling my State Farm rep tomorrow?

Pray to the insurance Gods that State Farm will actually pay for it.

No prayers necessary ... hitting a submerged object is a covered peril subject to your policy deductible.
