Maybe this already got posted somewhere but thought I would post it here since I just got the notice. Obviously if you look at a lot of guys signatures there are a ton of Photobucket error messages. Well today I got an email from them stating the only way their service can still be used for "third party hosting" is to upgrade to a $400/year account.

Chris, it could be this was the plan all along, to build up a user base that now relies on Photobucket for image sharing, then "monetize" the site.

I haven't been over there in awhile but, if this is accurate, my guess is they'll see a whole lot of subscribers tune out.

Done with them.....they can keep all my pictures I have on photosmucket!

I'm done as well. Between the constant pop up ads and now this, its crazy. I can just use my own company's website to host any images I want to use. I can still access all of my images but I am about to delete them all and close the account.

We've always used www.flickr.com. Never used Photobucket.

I started having hosting problems a few weeks ago. Just for fun I just tried to log into Photobucket and was able to do so. The only problem is my computer got loaded up with ads and out of the kindness of Photobuckets heart they offered me a pop up ad allowing me go ad free for $2.49 a month.

Probably plenty of suckers out there paying them too.

You can still get your pictures from Photobucket if you need them. They just will not host them unless you pay.

Yup another tech company is gonna bite the dust. Too many others that are still free and $400 a year is ludicrous

I only had 5 pictures in my account. I only used it for my sig file on here. Downloaded and shut the account down. Posted an update to my sig that day. Time is elapsimg, I may be off by a month, but my prediction still stands:
