Im taking my wifes nephew and need somewhere within or around an hr drive close to dfw. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I know the lakes on the west side can be a beating for bass to often.. ha

PK, fish are even up shallow, you can catch them on small swim baits, plus sand bass and maybe a bonus stripper. Plus it's just pretty scenery and with it being a weekday you will get much less of pleasure boating activity.

Boat or bank?

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

If you don't want to go that far, Lake Worth has been producing some good numbers in the cuts off of the main lake. If you just want your nephew to catch some fish, the sandies are usually schooling this time of year around the hump just east of the 820 bridge, so a roadrunner might be a good bet. If you take some worms or minnows, you can catch some sunfish and maybe a catfish or two.
