Been nearly 3 weeks since I've been out (got slow due to post-spawn, etc). Been busy weather-wise with work, watching kids while wife is outta town and all kinds of other things needing to get done.

Anyone doing good? Deep I imagine, but thinking heading out one morning this week. I need some down time in a BIG way before my nights start late this week, then our cruise after. Any color thoughts are welcome too.

Maybe tomorrow morning, or Thursday morning? Maybe Ernest will take pity on us and take us out on the SS Crappie!
As usual, I'll bring the donuts!

SW, never know. Those donuts you bring are always good. I'll likely be out first early Thursday, since I have a doc appointment tomorrow and usually this time of year, have to hit em' early.

Ernest never takes pity on me.

Not sure I will be able to make it. Wife's flight back from Colorado may be sooner than expected. *sigh*

Yeah, I'm *bumping* this old thread (pg 11, oh ya), because I just got back in from a week cruise and have a few more days off and thinking of heading out one of the next few mornings early to get some self time with my little speckled, papermouth buddies.

Any members have a report? (you can PM if you don't wanna give it away).

I know they're deep, but wouldn't mind hangin' a few one of the next few mornings.

Welp, guess I'll go in one early morning early this week "blind" as they say, but remembered my mid Summer technique when we had slips at Lakeview Marina on EM.

I'm sure I'll 'figure it out' noidea hmmm azn

Thanks. By dead stick, you mean just sitting still? or can you bump it up/down occasionally? By swing, I assume you mean a toss and let it drift back to you.

What's been your best go to, soft plastics (which I usually use in mid Summer) or hair jig and color preference be good.

exactly correct on those terms. bump every 15 secs did not seem to detour. blue/chart or blue/pink have been hot jigs lately for me.

Thanks my friend. By the way, you're REALLY CLOSE to where I live (I'm in Trace Ridge Subdivision behind the N Beach St WalMart) off of Trace Ridge between N. Tarrant Pkwy and Shiver Rd. Considered N. Fort Worth, though my teens go to Keller Central H.S.

About a dozen "smalls" and a couple of borderline keepers this morning. They actually bit better after 8 am.

Eric - nicie seeing you out there this morning. I spent about 3 hrs on brushpiles, and caught three nice ones 13-14". Also, about a dozen dinks. They hit it on the drop, on the swing, and dead sticking. Nothing seems dominate! Also, color did not seem to matter. Did not use any big plastics today. Got a call from doc's office causing me to get off the water early. Was getting hot anyway. lizard

Good seeing you as well and talking family, Don. Glad to hear you did alright and hopefully you got some of the boat fixes done.

May be out there Thurs a.m. again (not sure about tomorrow). Dr called? Everything OK I hope. I stopped off at the hospital to see my brother after this colon surgery Monday on way home. In pain some, but healing up.

Maybe we'll go slay a few on piles sometime now that I have my 7.5 footer in Dan's cabinet (I let him know, as we share the same slip).

Surprised Ernest wasn't around, but it was pretty hot. Need those roof covers on those boats now. I did better on Bobby Garland minnow soft plastics over the others I usually use.

See ya soon.
