Any difference between the 2 ducers other than having to buy a sonar ducer if I had the LSS-2 with and HDS Gen 3?
If you can't find em wind em.

Totalscan is good for trolling motors and slow boats. If you need high speed sonar readings then go with a transom skimmer or shoot through the hull puck for sonar.

So, with that in mind, the total scan skimmer transducer would be all I needed for the console graph? What would be the ideal transducer for the HDS at the bow? I appreciate that help. This is all knew to me and a lot to digest. Learning as quickly as possible here!

I have an Elite Ti9 on my console and I can attest that at 50ish (fast as my boat goes) it still reads quite well.

Totalscan transducer is too big for trolling motor. It will need to be mounted on the back just like the LSS2. The LSS2 and a separate sonar transducer are the best. This way you can mount the LSS2 a little higher (more out of harms way) and make sure your sonar transducer keeps reading at high speeds. However Totalscan will work. Call me if you have any questions. You can also find some good videos via Google - Lowrance youtube videos. Cell 817-319-1194

Hey guys looking for input. Been running Gen 1's with LSS1. I just purchased a Gen three with the total scan transducer. Some have said to use the LSS1 instead. Thoughts? Oh, this is for the console.

I used an LSS1 module and transducer for several years with an HDS8 Gen2 on console. I recently replaced it with a console mounted HDS9 Gen3 with a Totalscan transducer. While I've only gotten to use the Gen3/Totalscan on the water 2-3 times its not been obvious to me so far that my old LSS1 was noticeably better in any way. YMMV. Also - the Totalscan transducer maintains bottom readings wth 2D sonar at much higher speeds than either my old transom mount skimmer or in-hull transducers. My Totalscan is mounted to the roof of the hull's step.

Total scan will let you fine tune your unit more. LSS doesn't allow sensitivity settings. Depending on what trolling motor you have it'll fit. Most 36v it's the exact size of the lower unit. Anything smaller it'll touch the base of the prop.
