Seems the crappie were beginning their summer time funk. Finding fish seemed fairly easy for everyone. Getting one to bite anything was a real challenge. Most fish were caught in 18-30 FOW on various types of timber. Fish were holding about 14-18 ft deep. The presentation had to be spot on real close to the structure and a subtle presentation was best. Bites were very light. Sometimes you didn't know the fish was there. Color of jig didn't seem to matter; but putting the jig close to the quarry was the key. Great turnout for this one with 22 teams in each Division. Weights were not as big as most people expected due to the bite being way off for Fork. But everyone seemed to be having a good time at weigh in with a good crowd on hand to see what was brought to the scales. Thankfully there was some good cloud cover this morning till about noon; so the temps were bearable compared to Thur and Fri when everyone roasted when the wind died about 10:30 both mornings. Never would I think I would strongly suggest sunscreen and lots of water but I will be preaching this after Thursdays wake up call. Thursday around 4 pm my eyesight went and my vision was in doubles. After I sat down and drank lots of water occasionally pouring it over me my vision came back after about 10 min.
Be smart not tough!
Congrats again to the winners!

In this heat and sun, you need to begin to hydrate the evening before you fish. This allows your body to absorb the water, so it doesn't pass thru.

You drink some even if you don't feel thirsty. I know we all get focused on the fishing when it's tournament time, but you have to make yourself drink water all day. If you wait till your feeling really thirsty, it's too late to completely recover that day. And one of those big brim hats that some people think look goofy is worth a lot more than people may think. And SCK was entered, but had an unexpected personal matter that came up earlier in the week and had to cancel.

Well I hate to hear that. I just wanted a chance at redemption after y'all came to my lake and mud holed everybody back to back!! Plus 6th place would have paid same as 5th if he came!! I hate Fork but I'm slowly getting better. I will figure these crappie out someday.

My uncle David and life long hero passes away unexpectedly. David served as a pilot in Vietnam Nam where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and continued his career in the Air Force as an pilot instructor in T37 and T38 jet aircraft. The USAF lost one of their best and he was the most respected man I ever knew. He truly lived his life as an example for others.
