A buddy and I are going to Monticello Sunday and gonna try and catch on frogs. My question is, is there a place to put in closer to the north part of the lake? He has a little 10-12 ft bass buster type boat with trolling motor. Gonna take a little while from the boat ramp to get up there. Any place closer would be great. Thanks.

Go to Lake Hawkins. Plenty of pads and frog action on the north end and there's a ramp there. Might even see a gator or two. PM me if you have any questions....GTrigg

If you get to Monticello and decide not to launch and take the journey north to the promise land....You can always launch at the same camp area into Bob Sandlin, last time I fished it was last October but it had a lot of good grass in that cove where you launch at and we caught em on frogs and buzzbaits. Nothing big but it was a lot of fun.

You will be on fish not long after you put in on the north end at Monti as the fish will be in the creek channel and under the pads. thumb

i believe the road CR 2550 leading to the creek has been blocked by mining operations. I used to launch there in the early 90's when i fished out of a buster boat. A friend tried it laast year and could not get there.

if your buster boat has a gas motor, (mine had a 6hp motor) it will take a half hour but that was by myself.

you might try knocking on the doors of the two houses near the railroad bridge, there is a creek that runs behind there property.
