This is probably not the proper place to place this post, but more people will see it here..

The Old Veleno bridge near the County Boat ramp here in Zapata is just about a foot under the water. It has claimed two lower units in the last few days.

There are three buoys on the bridge on the east end, but the bridge continues to the west a good ways. There is plenty of room to go by on the west side. But you need to know where this hazard is if you are coming to Falcon.

Or if any of your Buddies are coming to Falcon, please pass this along..

Call me or stop by the shop and I'll draw you a map of the bridges location and where to go by it safely.

It appears that the International Water and Boundary Commission could give a [censored]..

So it sounds like anything over about 35 feet low is time to be careful getting over that area. Good to know.

Sure hope ya'll get some rain down there soon. Maybe a good hurricane or two.

James, What about the two under water up the river past Speedys place in the main channel? Those concrete pillars are boat eaters also. Can't remember what depth they become dangerous.

State Park ramp is also non-usable now. Was down there last weekend and it was iffy then. Sad to see. All we can do is pray for rain!

Why won't the state do something about this and mark it all the way across? I remember you marking it yourself with jugs s a few years back only to have them removed. Seems like this could be life threatening...

I have an airboat for that. As long as I can't see it, I won't hit it.

The old concrete bridge abutments up the river above Beacon have been out of the water for a long time now. So they are not really a problem at this time.

I don't recommend that you travel up the river past the Salado unless you are really familiar with the area.

The Salado is still ok if you proceed with caution. Stay to the north of the tree line in the channel as you go in. There are scattered hardwoods in there.. So go easy.

And fishing has been good in there as a lot of fish that used to inhabit the backwaters have been drawn out toward the Rio Grande..

I have been in contact with the IWBC thru the county judge, and they said they would send us some buoys that we could install..

I guess a $50 million dollar budget just ain't enough to spare a few man hours of labor.. Instead we should risk our personal equipment and safety to do their job..

You gotta love the feds.. What a crock of [censored]..
