Thinking about getting a new drop shot rod and looking for some help from the DS experts. Thanks in advance.

Ron Grantham of Reeltime Rods makes a nice one that fits your budget. His shop is located at Popes Landing off of Hwy.17 at Lake Fork.

I've fished them all. Are you a baitcaster or spinning rod guy?

Reel Time makes a great spinning rod. Best is hands down a NRX. But under 200, reel time.
If your a baitcaster guy Duckett is one of the best in my opinion.

I'm definitely late to the drop shot party, but can someone explain what makes a good drop shot rod for a baitcaster?

A good baitcaster for drop shot is the one you bought for light cranks and now find it useless....so you use it as a drop shot rod.

so, basically any 7' medium action, moderate fast tip, would be a good rod for drop shot? I think I have one of those; didn't know that I already have a good drop shot rod.

Yes. Some are better than others. I like the Duckett 7'M Crankin rod. It has the best action of any rod Ive used and the micro guides help you feel everything.
