For those with a Viking Reload, I currently have two starport HD mounts for rod holders on my tackle pod just forward of the lid opening.
I'm now looking to mount a fish finder.
However, every picture I've seen, has the fish finder just forward of the lid opening and the rod holders forward of that. This is opposite of how my setup would be at the moment.
Is this personal preference or is there a reason to have the fish finder mounted in front of the rod holders?

Also, there are two threaded brass inserts on either side just behind the paddle holder bungee. What are these for? I have installed a Yak Gear viking specific anchor trolley already and it did not come with anything for those spots.

There are also three threaded brass inserts around the back of the tank well. What are these for? These are separate from the rudder screw holes as I recognize those.

Thanks

I have my FF installed forward of the lid. It just seemed like the right spot to me but I really don't see what difference it would make where you put it just as long as you like it.

Are you talking about the brass insert where this stud is at? If so, I was told that's for mounting the Viking fish bag.

Yes, I looked at the fish bag online and you are right about those.
The other screw holes and on either side of the seat.

Now that I'm getting a ff, that does seem like the logical place. I put rod holders there though so we could reach them. If I move them now it'll leave holes.

Qick fix,...Get some stainless screws, goop them up with silicone and screw them into the holes.

Just one more cast!

I've moved things around on mine several times and fixed the holes by putting duct tape on the inside and melting some black Starboard shavings into them. So far so good.

Great yak. One thing i have found is that you need some weight in it to maximize performance. We have reload, 440, 400, gt and 35. Love em

I have an old hobie rudder. Does anyone know what it is made of and if it will work like starboard?
