Anyone ever use recycled plastic 2xs? If this is a bad idea what's the best? It's hard to find GOOD lumber nowadays.

I was going to use those but got to thinking about how slick they would be. On a steep ramp, your boat would slide right off the trailer. That could be good and bad but you might want be in the water before you unhook. I thought about wrapping them in a really good carpet.

I have used the ultimate bunk boards and put carpet on them. Skeeter used some composite bunks in 2004-08 that suddenly turned to mush.

The Ultimate bunk boards are working fine for me. Develop a routine and stick with it. Never unhook the boat before it and the trailer are in the water.

I had Ty at www.texallaluminum.com build me a new trailer. I asked about this issue. I'll just let him speak to it. You can check other boards he frequents and see pictures he posted of what happens when you choose bunks incorrectly. It's not pretty and it's expensive to fix.

Ty made my trailer too and it's darn nice....no wood, no carpet for my bunk skids, all Aluminum and poly
