Which of these three would you spend 2 days fishing if you had the chance?

Does anyone know anything about running these Lakes? I've been on Decker before. But I've never been on Waco or Bastrop.

Also if anyone has any information on General patterns that are working that would be great. I am from the Dallas area on vacation with my wife and one of my church members. He is a beginner and I'm trying to teach him how to fish.

Bastrop. Very scenic area and a fun lake. Stay at the LCRA cabins.

White flukes and Texas rigged Rattlesnakes in the eel grass, frogs and swim jigs around the reeds, C-rigged baby brush hogs or flukes on deep stuff, alabama rigs with small baits around schools of bait. Schooling activity has been hit or miss the last couple years because they aren't generating as much anymore. If you are good with your electronics, pretty easy to find them in big schools this time of year near channel intersections. Great lake for numbers, big fish are extremely rare. I usually spend most of my time frogging.

What about where to put in coming from the Austin area and are there any running hazards?

Depends on what part of Austin you are coming from. You have two options, North shore and south shore.

There is standing timber in a few coves, but not anywhere you would be on pad.

Don't know much about the other two, but Waco is getting hammered!

Is the tournament last weekend considered being hammered? Waco is pretty open. good fishing, flipping wood and cranking brushpiles should get you bit. U can catch a bunch of mixed fish on any main lake point. I enjoyed my 2nd time to be on that lake this past weekend.

I think Bastrop or Fayette would be good choices for someone new to fishing.

Spend one day on WE Long (AKA Decker) and the other on Bastrop. Both being power plant lakes they can be very finicky and can also produce 75/100 fish days. Don't tie yourself down to just one of them!

Decker, hands down. That lake is producing good fish right now. Grass everywhere and it's easy to fish. Bastrop absolutely sucks right now. If you wanna go catch dinks, then go there. Never been to Waco.

I fished Decker Saturday morning. Caught 5 fish in 6 hours all mostly on top water the first 2 hours. After that it slowed down a ton. Best fish was 4 pounds... a couple of 3s. It's hard to find them once it warms up though

Bastrop one day then Decker the next. They are schooling a bit on Bastrop right now. On Decker fish hard the first hour of light as it has been getting tough as the day starts to heat up.

Also the vegetation on decker is getting VERY thick. The winter didn't get cold enough to kill much of it and it's out of control right now. Much worse than it was in previous years. Many of the major coves are completely covered

I fished Bastrop two days last week( thurs-fri) and it was horrible. 5 short ish and 7 keepers nothing over 4. Another boat fishing said he caught two fish. Kayak guys said it was very slow for them each caught only 1 fish one said he use to guide there.
