I'll try to sum it up quick ok, it was hotter than a fire cracker out there but I managed to catch 7 bass which is better than my last trip of only 2 bass. And would you believe that the best two fish caught on this trip were 4 pounders caught around the discharge area. I had surface water temp readings of 102 to 104 degrees in this area but still caught these guys in 20 FOW throwing a deep diving crank bait. I caught a few dinks here and there on the lake but the better fish were caught around the intake area throwing T/R 4 inch red shad color plastic. My average catch was in the 2-2/2 to 3-1/2 pound range. I was on the water for five hours and my face felt sun burned so I packed it up and got out of there. Over all I think it was an ok day for this time of year. Did I mention it was hot out there? I could feel the heat coming off the water, it even caused my glasses to fog up once. And this was around 2 pm. I could only fish the discharge area for a short time, leave and then come back fish a little more. Boy was I ever putting away some liquids too. Anything you do in this heat during the hotter months you have got to keep yourself hydrated.

You fish Fayette a lot...have you ever tried fishing at night? We used to fish Toledo Bend at night and it was some of the best fishing of the year in the middle of the summer. Was wondering if you ever tried night fishing at Fayette.

Are the gates open all night and can you fish the lake at night? It certainly seems like a good option for the next three months.

I believe that only Oak Thicket is open all night.

Both ramps are open 24/7 as we speak. I can only hope that they got things back under control with a few party groups that were trashing out the place and causing all the trouble.
You also asked about night fishing on this lake. The answer to that is yes. I use to fish this lake at night and night only during these hotter months. There is an awesome bite at night. But wearing trifocal glasses and fishing at night is not as fun as it used to be, so I’ve slacked off on the night fishing thing.

Thanks for sharing your go pro. I'm shocked that haven't purchased one of these yet. What I would like to do is get my wife or someone to film the top water bite action with me one day. We have an awesome video camera, just need to get someone to operate it one of these days when the top water bite is going crazy good. With this video camera I can get some really nice close up shots of these bass eating that thing.
HB, like your photo signature too. Y'all be posing with some chunks right there, nice.
Looks like a few heavy sixes to me.
