La titles boat trailers but title does not have GVRW. I am afraid that I am going to have to get inspected or weigh it. Anyone done this? Also I am guessing they do not issue plates for boat trailers. Trailer does not even have a place to mount one.

I read somewhere that they are removing the weighing of boat trailers for registration. Depending on your county, I think that they will just ask you the GVRW when you register it here.

I hope you are correct about just asking for the GVWR. I heard rumors that they were increasing the inspection requirement to 7500 lbs nut that would be effective 9/1. Current cutoff is 4501. I know boat and motor weight but not sure what the trailer weighs.

Single axle-dual axle?? Not a huge issue. Clerk will ask you anything thats missing. GVWR is total of everything. Boat motor trailer all combined. Just tell her 4500 GVWR & you'll be good to go.
YES they DO issue plates for trailers in Texas & must be displayed with a white light illuminating it. Just like on a motor vehicle. Not a big deal but if you don't you CAN be ticketed for failure to display tags, no light, etc etc etc. . Depends on who stops you & if they issue or warn. You know the story. Easy fix.

I know they do for Texas. I have lived here 50 years. I bought boat in La.. I think I have a plan for plate attachment but not light. My Ranger trailer does not have lighted plate but at least on it the plate is directly below the taillight. On this Champion/Phoenix trailer a plate below the taillight would almost scrape the road
LEOs could give tickets all day long for not having lighted plate. Just look at all the trailers with them strapped to fenders. I actually gave a spare license plate light but it is a bumper mount not a flush mount. I could probably McGyver it. Found trailer weight. It is 1000lbs which puts whole rig at 4100 with 40 gallons of gas and full tank of oil. This Champ holds 90 gallons of fuel and previous owner left half a tank.
