Headed to Waco for several days. Going to get out early before all the pleasure boaters/jet fleas get out. Haven't been to Waco since last summer. How has it been lately? When I lived here I used to fish it every weekend. I'd guess brush in 12-14' and then the bridge. Am I close? Just looking for general info...thanks!

Check the TPWD website for the gps coordinates of the crappie condos placed in the lake. There's a bunch of them.

White, chart thump buddies on a plain head. chart nibbles. or white chart rocky tops. funny because last year black and chart was king.. ha brush in 14 to 18 feet, catch the aggresive fish off each pile then go to the next piles. Ive been catching big fish, and undersize abt 1 to one. best bite is morning. Water has been quite stained, and in low 80s, the lack of heavy light penetration hasnt made the fish cluster heavily to the brush yet, no 100 fish to a pile yet. best piles have been midlake to north. havent tried the bridge yet this year, but saw a few folks fishing the mid bridge area. I would launch at twin bridges and start hitting piles in 14 to 18 feet . if u stop catching fish after abt 10 minutes, move on. bite will shut down by noon.
also crickets, mayflies, grasshoppers are out and about, so might want to try some natural colors like, bobby g cajun cricket, Texas Toast, slab bandits, timber rattlers thump buddies, river cane bandits, any baits that have yellow, brown green ect. crickets and grasshoppers come in MANY colors. Also, dont usr too big of a profile bait, medium to small seems to be best right now being its post spawn.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Dang it was windy!!! Hard staying on some spots because of it. Worked thru a ton of short fish. Ended with enough keepers for a good meal for us! Will be out again tomorrow

Also, has one else noticed the piece of wood sticking of the water just north of the Twin Bridges? It is closer to the North West end of the bridge about 100-150 yards north. Looks like a tree that embedded in the lake bed during flooding, etc. It never used to be there when I used to fish there. It caught by surprise when I saw it.

I saw it, MASSIVE old tree looked like it was stuck in the bottom. might tie a jug to it next time out, its going to destroy a few lower units otherwise, or worse. theres another one further north on the west bank. not sure if it was a floater or stuck. be careful and keep us posted on hazzards.,

try fishing around the edges of the piles for the bigger fish. and slightly away from the piles.

He and his wife are still wearing the slabs out on Waco...they made a few videos on youtube this year.

Best way to link up with him would be thru crappie fishing fools on facebook!
