Lasted until about 9:00 when the sun finally got past the clouds (thanks Cindy for great overcast skies). Caught half-a-dozen largemouth, two that went 16 and 17 inches. Was thinking about how much I love topwater fishing and how it is almost impossible for a yaker to lose a topwater lure when the biggest bass of the day hit the lure, jumped once to show me how much was on the line, then proceeded to snap the lure off. No more 8 lb. test line for me.

Sorry, but probably never will have pics when I am in the yak - too many examples of folks losing their phones on the water. And since I did not keep any, no pics from the fileting table either. FYI, all caught on a Pop R, until it was stolen, no hits at all on the BPS brand replacement I had in the box.

I feel your pain. I rarely lose lures while kayak fishing and almost never have one break off by a fish. Two weeks ago I had a nice bass break me off...........losing my Yellow Magic Popper in the process. It's a risky bet to fish the banks while floating down the middle of the river in the current. He went one way and the current took me the other.

I've been itching to get out there recently, what part of the lake were you in? (just the area roughly, not trying to steal your hole or anything)

I was fishing the north shoreline near Murrell Park, but where I fish depends on water temp and wind conditions. About this time of year I will start to spend more time on the south shoreline and along the dam.
