Hey Guys,
I bought a few of the jigs guys had mentioned from the previous post. My revular jigs I am usually glipping in to cover or doing a slow drag.
In regards to the football jigs,I have had little luck getting the offshore schools I have found fired up to bite. I have tried the slow drag and stroking the jig.
I planned on using rage craws as trailers.
How about the hookset? Sweep it or just reel into them?
Thanks for the opinions in advance.

It is pretty simple. They either want a jig as a larger profile or they don't. You cannot force feed them a bait that they do not want. The best technique is put the jig into heavy cover and not on schooling fish. There are some things the jig must have to give the Bass that opportunity.
- Big Eyes - Sound Chambers - Living Rubber Skirt - Heavily Scented in Crayfish Extract - The right Colors for this time of year. - A trailer with Floating Claws also scented.

I have a biotech that works for a facility in Fl. make it. It is not sold in any stores. His job is to test the aggressiveness of different extracts on all species of fish. He assures me that all fresh water fish want the natural scents and the purer the form the better. Minnow is #1 - Night Crawler is #2 - Crayfish is #3
I have been taking it to Mexico where we can catch over 100 Bass per day for 20 years. I can't tell much difference in the three as far as being better then the others. We fish slow moving plastics and all three have been tested over and over. When we put it along side other scents that are sold on the market there is a big difference in catching abilities. If we use any other plastics dosed in another scent we will only average 70 bass per day.
I just try to pare it up for the baits I am throwing. Fast moving baits like spinner baits get the Minnow Extract. Slow moving plastics like worms and drop shot baits get Night Crawler. Creature baits like Brush Hogs get Crayfish. This has worked well for me all these years. I made the scent myself from 1982 to 2000 and got tires of raising minnows, night crawlers and trapping Crayfish.

I am by no means an expert jig fisherman but I am getting better and I'm willing to share what I've learned. If I've marked fish locked on the bottom(regardless of depth), than I will slowly drag the jig on the bottom feeling for structure as I go. If I feel something, rock or stump, log I pause and work the structure. If I am fishing timber or chunk rock, I will hop the jig off the bottom to keep from getting hung and also works well when fish are suspended. In grass I kinda stroke the jig trying to drop it into the deep holes between the clumps of grass. Ultimately the fish will tell you how they want it.
