Well the water has finally got up into the 80's and as I expected the deeper bite is starting to heat up. You can still catch some fish in the 5-10' water early and on cloudy days but my best depths have been 14-18'. Just as the reports from other lakes, plenty of short fish to weed through and I do not see that changing but it is a good thing. Plenty of seed for the next few years.
I still have noticed that the larger fish seem to be a bit deeper on a spot and will often bite last. You may catch 8-10 short fish on a piece of structure before you catch a keeper.
Submerged timber and standing timber seems to hold better fish than brush piles and the dam has produced lately at times.
At the dam I drag a 1/8 ounce jig right along the bottom slowing bouncing it on the rocks. I look for individual fish or groups of 3-5 fish and pick them off then move until I see another fish or two hanging right on the bottom. Have not noticed and large schools but if they are willing its a decent pattern good for 20-30 good fish in a trip. If I don't catch a few pretty quick I abandon that and go find something else. 14-17' has been the depth along dam. If you
stumble on some brush even better.
It's a run and gun approach right now. 1-3 keepers at a spot and move. As the water keeps warming I hope they will group up better but this may be the pattern for awhile.
100 fish and 20-30 keepers is a normal day and several 1.50-1.80# and usually a 2# or 2 fish a trip.
White/chart and sour grape/chart has been our best colors. Once water hits 88 degrees I will start adding a piece of cut shad or cut minnow to entice the bite a little but no need for any of that just yet.
It's a good time to get out and see a lot of the lake and really hone your jig fishing skills
. I have some openings next week and I offer some evening working man trips.
I'm running some timber trips on Fork and Lewisville also.

Good luck and stay safe

Had a great time fishing Father's Day Jerry. Those 19 keepers made 4 bags of fillets. Thanks for the time to teach and show us some great technique. thumb

Enjoyed the day with you and Mark. Hope those Marks on your graph will help you out. You have a heck of a nice set up. Was a pleasure captaining your vessel.
Btw, I think I left my box of chips in your boat..

Little black box with sd cards in it. Think it is in box in back on starboard side.

I'm pretty sure Jerry can catch them with or without those chips.
