Another great tournament for local angler Drew Sloan whose 13th place finish has him sitting 3rd in the total standings for the year.
And for you guys who have been around the tournament scene for a while it was pretty neat to see Carl Svebek III back in the winners circle again after being out of fishing for an extended period of time. For those who know his story of his Sam Rayburn days and then to really hit the big time and be such a success and then to be completely out of fishing came full circle with a win.

It was cool to see Carl win. Congrats Drew, just one more tournament to do well in to qualify.

I fished as a co angler and had a nice time despite not catching any big fish. The Sabine is an interesting place for sure.

I remember Carl a long time ago when he lived in the Rayburn area and fished. Pretty neat that he moved to Orange and won a BASS Open on the Sabine river. I've said it before and will repeat....the Sabine is an amazing fishery and just a bunch of fun for those of us who don't tournament fish anymore. Catch lots of bass in a variety of ways and sometimes get lucky with a big one. Congrats also to the guy from Orange who won the co-angler title.

My link fished with Carl on day 2 said they smashed them real quick and got out of there, his area was loaded with fish and had them to his self. Congrats to both.

Yea. That's definitely an area that I would have overlooked. I guess everybody did. Lol

+1, and the fact that had his lower unit not blown last year in a tournament he'd of qualified for the Elites in his first try/ first season in the Opens, will do it this year being his second try, unbelievable results! No disrespect to the others but that's nearly un-heard of.

That's because I haven't fished them.

Lol

Yep...we are both "locals" up here, and he makes me look look like a beginner when we fish together. Doesn't matter how good of a day I'm having.

I can catch 6, he'll catch 10. I can catch a 5, he'll catch a 6. The guy is legit, and as nice as they come. Hope to see him do big things next year.

You can't possibly be comparing yourself to a guy that has done well in the opens! Hell I won a workingmans once and don't consider myself a pro. You seriously need to take your ego down a peg or two! We all tell our wives we are good but results say otherwise.
