Going back for my yearly trip to CS. Fished Eleven Mile Canyon last time. Will probably try the dream stream this year. Going the first week in July. Any hints would really help. Also really love to fish small streams/creeks. Any recommendations?

Thanks for the help.

Be sure post some pictures when you get back . Been to CS twice but not to fish but to sight see . Had to go twice to see half of everything to do there . Beautiful place ! . Last time went to the Seven Falls I think is what it is called . Best I liked tho was the train trip to the top of Pikes Peak . Loved my trips there . Will go back someday to fish tho .

First week of July many streams in the area will still be in runoff, albeit on the down side. They have not yet begun to flush the South Platte yet. The canyons and dream stream remain fishable for the time being. Beaver creek below skaguay reservoir is pretty close to CS, loaded with small browns with a few rainbows and brookies. The occasional laker finds its way downstream too. There are some off the path creeks around Pikes Peak area as well.

Grape Creek in canon city is a favorite of mine if the rivers are still in runoff. About an hour from Springs.

Beaver creek, both upper below Skagway res. And the lower in Florence area. Upper portion shouldn't be effected by the runoff, as it comes out of the res. Lower may be a different story.

I'm here now. Fished 11 mile Sunday, fished the upper 2 miles. Flows have been low but coming up, fish are bitting. Fished around Deckers today, mainly sub surface.
Going back to 11 tomorrow, maybe dream stream Thursday.
The "tube" hatch is in full swing, crowded.

Looking forward to more updates! I'll be in Denver for a few days in September.

Fished 11 mile today. Got up to the dam around 5:30
We were the only ones there, fish were biting good till
lunch. Caught most on elk hair caddis, caught some on
different droppers behind the caddis. After lunch the
place was crowded with fishermen and kids playing
in th water. Headed to the dream stream tomorrow.
South Platte fly shop gave us plenty of information.
Went into Peak fly shop, grumpy old man working
there, these shops are in Woodland Park,

Nice report! Have you taken any photos? Seeing a few pics of the Rocky Mountains might cool us all off down here in the hundred degree heat.

Yep took some pics, don't have any fish pics, rod in one hand net in the other. Fished Dream stream
today. Hitting Tricos, dry with black body and silver wings followed by a (so darn small can't hardly see
to tie it on) black trico nymph. Majority of people fishing with guided, could here them talking to each
other about not catching much. We moved up stream a good way from them. I started talking to another fisherman. We traded information, he told me about the tricos, and I told him about 11 mile. Storms
showed up around noon. Looked like quitting time for the guides.

gave us some good information.
