If someone drags up a Shimano zodias and a revo sx spinning set up on grapevine, I lost it the other day in twin coves. Figured I'd post just to ease my mind lol. I dragged for hours and caught everything but my rod and reel

I have lost a few expensive combos in my day.

I fish the same spots all the time. I THINK I almost brought one of em back to the boat one day....but lost it again.

It is what it is.

You'll get booted back down to a Snoopy rod until you show you can stop loosing them.

Go get you a cheap fish chain from wal mart and some rope
Open all of the hooks and drag it around the area you lost it. It works well.

Snoopy rod would definitely be cheaper lol. I'm almost tempted to buy one of the aqua vu cameras with how much stuff I've lost in the water! I think I'll just call this one a loss

...several years ago was fishing a Redman(BFL) tourney on Lake Sinclair(Ga.)..was fishing around  docks and came up on one with couple little boys bream fishing off it..one was probably 6 years old and other one couple years older........did the usual "catching anything" greeting and both of them started telling me about a giant catfish had pulled their fishing rod out of the holder and swam off the night before and it was the older boys brand new rod and reel....both of the boys were kinda dejected over losing the rod and we told them we were sorry and continued fishing down the bank...
probably about two docks down,I saw a bobber in water at edge of a boat house with no rods on nearby docks...just on a hunch,I raised the bobber up with my rod tip and pulled the bobber to the boat and pulled in the line....no giant catfish but there was a brand new rod and push button reel....

I turned around and headed back where the boys were on the dock....as I got with within earshot I told them I had found a rod and reel that I might sell cheap...the older boy asked  how much and I replied probably a dollar would be enough....older boy told the younger one to run up to the house and get a "dollar from Daddy"...and younger started to the house and I told him to hold on a minute til they saw the rod because it might not be worth a dollar....I can tell you,it was worth a hundred dollars to see the look on their faces when they saw the rod lying on my deck, recognized it as theirs and both of them trying to tell me at same time that was the rod the catfish had swam away with...I told them that if that was their rod,I just couldn't charge them anything......and it was worth another hundred dollars to have seen them running up to the cabin hollering out to their Dad they had got their rod back.......

Yep, I've done this and retrieved a rod the next day. Attach something heavy to it as well to hold it on the bottom.

I lost one on Monticello last year. Dragged an A-Rig for an hour to no avail. Went back the next weekend with the chain, still nothing. A month later I hook into a rod and reel combo, get it to the surface, it was a 4' trigger zebco combo. So much for my $200 drop-shot setup, I got a $5 combo in return! LOL

I reeled in a rod/reel with brand new braid on it this weekend on Monticello and gave it to the guy I took fishing.

The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

Fishing with my partner last spring and he let a brand new Quatum rod and reel slip out of his hand on a cast. Drug around for a little while with no luck. Continued fishing the rest of the morning until he had to leave for a job interview. On a lark I returned to the spot where he lost his rod and reel. Tied on a large spoon and gave it a go. Second cast I hooked the rod in the guide on the tip and brought it up. Took a picture and sent it to him to make his day. Even better he also landed the job he was interviewing for. He had been unemployed for almost two months. Great day all around.

Took a neighbor "Newby" who had never fished from a boat out one day. Gave him my fairly new expensive spinning rig to use and tied on a spinnerbait. I figured he couldn't backlash or loose the spinnerbait. On the very first cast he somehow lost grip and flung the entire rig out about 20 yards from the boat. His first words were "How much is that gonna cost me". I replied with you don't even wanna know. I cast a deep diving CB for nearly an hour and finally hung the line and pulled it in. Last time that guy even asked to go with me again! LOL

My brother dumped one of his Dobyns full handle rods with a Lews Tournament Pro over board and it floated...He was so surprised that next time we went fishing he just threw it in the water to show me, and the dang thing floated! I believe it was a Champion series cranking rod or a the Champion Extreme Mike Long jig rod.

Fishing a tournament on Palestine last year, a couple of kayakers were fly fishing down by the dam. Guy tells us he lost his fly rod, to keep an eye out. We made a pass at the area, and my partner catches his fly line and gives him back his $500 setup!

My partner and I were fishing Lake Belton a couple weeks ago.
He decides we need to change location. He is cruising along about 45 and his rod and net both fly off the
front of the boat.Yes he forgot to strap them down.
He turns around and we circle back, first we find the net, I guess the hollow handle kept it afloat.
Then we find his rod, it had cork handles and was floating upside down in the water.
That was all we caught that day.
