I know some people bash snap swivels for bass fishing and etc. but what about using them for fishing for smaller eating size cats like channels. Reason I ask is some bait I'm planning on using I need to put on the shank of the the treble hook and figured it would be easier to rebait using a snap swivel. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Caught a 47# flathead on a jug using locking snap swivel with no problems.

Yeah, snap swivels are all I use for my handlines. I run Triple Threat swivels rated at 60 lbs and a snap rated at 110 lbs. (This is my own product, btw, just to be up front.)

I'm not overly fond of brass snap swivels (like typical Eagle Claw or such), but they're fine for things like panfish, sandbass, and smaller catfish.
I prefer swivels with a 'coastlock' or 'crosslock' snap (don't remember which name is the right one), as they're far less likely to pull open under pressure.
