What can anyone tell me about Lake Waco? Headed there next week and can't seem to find many posts about it that aren't 5yrs or older.

Bring a flipping rod and a Carolina rig rod.....it's all ya need.

Red Shad color works good there. As does watermelon red. Keep the boat in 20-25 ft and cast a c rig to 10-15 and go slow. Flip all the stuff in the first big creek channel east of the dam. The lake is loaded with 8-11 pound bass.

Hog creek is full off stumps. Look for yellow ribbons tied to the stumps for navigation.
Reynolds creek has less stumps, but seem to have the bigger bass.
As Steez said, C rig the points.

Is this the area you're referring to?

Yes.

Also the second cove with the island in the middle is a great spot .

Lots of cover is in both coves.

The main lake point is shallow, with good sloping sides ....it's good also.

Around to the northwest side is a nice creek channel that hugs the bank, it usually holds a lot of decent fish.

The lake literally has it all. And quality is abundant. It's one of my favorite lakes to fish.

If you are looking for numbers of fish try a square bill or spinnerbait amongst the stumps in the coves.

I'm sure if you ask nicer people will just give away the waypoints to their best spots on the lake

Ask nicer? There is zero emotion or anything in that post. Sorry you read it that way. That's always a problem when trying to interpret emotion on the interwebs. I'm a marshmallow and succinct, if anything. I removed the first part of the sentence in case that's what was being referred to.

I'm glad to see someone discussing Lake Waco on this forum!

I've only had a boat since Jan but this is my home lake and I have spent a good amount of time on it (several times per week on average).

I'd love to talk about lake features, general areas, etc. as I learn this lake. I'm not asking for "spots" or "waypoints", but I have learned some things (some places to definitely spend time on and others definitely not to, at least for me) which I am happy to share with someone else who would also share info.

Happy to talk by PM or in person.

We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?
