My little brother is coming down at the end of the month to fish and I really want to take him to a "different" spot...he's from the Panhandle and doesn't get to fish much. I'm looking at the San Gabriel River on Google Earth and it looks really secluded and clear...anyone have any info on this place? Planning on fishing in from a canoe or tandem kayak. Thanks in advance!

You can put in at the bridge at Circleville or go north of the bridge towards Granger, the next road past the bridge you go to the right and go down it until it takes a sharp left, right at that turn you can go down a trail to the river there. Hope this help's.

You can launch canoes/kayaks at the low-water crossing at CR 100 on Hwy 29 a few miles east of Georgetown. Good river access with parking. It's several miles down river to the east from the low-water crossing to the Hwy 95 bridge at Circleville which is at the headwaters of Granger Lake.

River access also at east side of Georgetown's San Gabriel Park if you want a longer paddle downstream towards Granger Lake.

Or you can access the river above Lake Georgetown at Corps of Engineer's L Gtn Camp Tejas and it's low-water crossing access there. This is upstream a few miles above the upper end of Lake Georgetown. There's probably other access points but it's all I know about.
