My son and I went to the Blue River Friday and Saturday.
Friday was the day they lifted the special restrictions for the catch and release area.
We got to the parking lot about 7:00 and there were already over 10 vehicles there.
Made it back to our favorite place and no one was there yet.
As the day went on, there were so many anglers it looked like ants. Only a few of which were fly fishing.
I bet the fish are still eating all the power bait thrown in on Friday.
Temp was 29 when we got there and my line was icing and at one point had to clean the ice out of the guides as line would not go through.
Trout were biting till about 11 then really slow for the rest of the day.
My son got 6 trout and I got 3 all fish between 13-17 inches.






Came back on Saturday morning got to our spot not long after sunrise.
Just saw a few anglers today, more than I have seen before still a small reasonable number.
I could not get a single bite trying different presentations and flies.
Tried several different environments.
Finally I caught a couple of small bass up to 13 inches.
My son hit the jackpot catching 6 trout 13-18 inches.





Called it a day about 11:30 to come back home.
Guessing with all the anglers and large numbers of fish taken on Friday that really put a damper on the fishing today.
Had to get someplace they weren't bombarded or throw something they didn't see a lot of yesterday.

Very nice... hoped to make it to the Blue but sidetracked with other things. Stayed local... still had fun and next week is TRWD Flyfest! Decided to get the switch rod out in preparation for next Saturday's TRWD Flyfest. Tend to use the switch rod while fishing for trout as longer cast are needed at times and like the ease of less and/or no false casting. Stopped at Towne Lake in McKinney and got a round of practice casts in. No trout but still good to bend the rod. Then, headed to City Complex Pond in Murphy and got lots of practice in... and even limited out on trout! Fun times... hope to do a repeat next Saturday at TRWD Flyfest!

After cutting off heads and gutting my son had 12.5 pounds of meat from the 12 trout he caught at blue river.

Been getting sidetracked for some time since we fished the Lower Illinois River in Oklahoma last year. Been wanting to post the catch and cook video of the brunch we had following the trip. We caught a Striped Bass and two Rainbow Trout we kept for the table. Did get other fish but released them instead. That said, do check out the catch and cook video; and do keep in mind for those who may catch a bruiser trout this weekend at TRWD Flyfest 2019!

Micro Fly Rod Quick Trip

Fun time today at TRWD Flyfest on the banks of the Trinity River in Fort Worth by the Acme Brick Company. Lots of fly fishing related things to do and learn, tasty foods, and tasty beer. Although we did not catch a fish; had one on but lost it, did see others do well in the Big Trout Contest! Do hope to make it back out there for another chance at a Bruiser Trout!
TRWD Flyfest 2019....

Updates from the Team on our latest happenings. Monday and Tuesday were both non-fishing days but still winners for the Team. Still working on the follow-up video of the fishing on the Trinity River the day after TRWD Flyfest. Saw more nice size trout being caught; your's truly lost three and left empty handed. Still a fun time!
March 11-12, 2019 Updates.

Had a fun time at TRWD Flyfest 2019; went back the following day. Lots of fishermen, lots of opportunity, but did not land an trout. Did lose three on the line, and saw lots more in the river as well as on other people's lines but for your's truly it was a strikeout. No worries... lotta fun. just wish we brought PowerWorms or Mouse Tails. Those were the baits of choice that day!
Day After TRWD Flyfest - Fishing the Lane! #trwdflyfest

Made the run to Oklahoma this weekend to fish the Blue River! Trout stocking season is winding down, so decided to make a trip and try our luck. Was a tough go with murky waters but our fishing partner caught four but only kept three trout; all were caught on ultralight spinning gear and using PowerWorms!

Did hook (although foul hooked) one trout; and then caught one and landed it but lost in when trying to put it on the stringer! Overall, was an awesome day on the Lady Blue! Made better with some nice trout for a tasty brunch Sunday morning. Do stay tuned for the catch and cook video! Blue River Trout Fishing and KFC Buffet... Doesn't Get Any Better!

Made it out this morning catching a few Bass while guarding their beds... video to post later; but, for now... a catch and cook video from last week's trip to the Blue River in Oklahoma; your's truly hooked and lost a few but our fishing buddy was able to bring home three nice trout caught using PowerWorms.
