Here's a breakfast salad from this morning. Sauteed together in olive oil a cut jalapeno, a little diced ham, a quarter potato, some broccoli, tomato and spinach and top with 2 eggs over easy. It was damn good!

That looks wonderful. I do something similar but swap the meats around for venison sausage when I have it or Canadian bacon. Top it with Julios salsa.

In Mexico and other Latin countries they eat beans for breakfast. When in "Rome" I really enjoyed the beans.

I had a dose of beans for lunch!! smile

J.P. - Forgot to mention if you are needing another option for protein in the morning aside from a meat product try peanut butter if you like it. Read labels as there are several "organic" and "natural" on the market that have high sugar gram counts. I had 2 apples with peanut butter this morning.

Never was a fan of the real PB until we found this brand.....I go through the big jar in about a week or less. Stir it up real good before use (store it upside down a day before stirring). We keep about 3 jars in the house minimum.

Oatmeal. Add raisins, nuts, a dash of cinnamon, and a pat of butter.

You can try almond butter, too. Similar to peanut butter in calories, fat and protein but a higher percentage of those fats are "healthy fats" and it also has more vitamins and minerals. (I'm a bigger fan of cashew butter myself...)

I saw this the other day and it made me think about changing my diet.

My wife has been doing a keto diet for a little over a month now. I won't tell you how much she's lost but I will tell you that I've lost nearly 10 pounds in 2 weeks.
It's not hard. It's basically managing your macros so that you cut carbs (easier than you think...and I love bread) and increase fat and protein and then get your body to burn Fat rather than carbs for energy.

I put my macros into an xls and then typical foods that are high in protein/fat, low in carbs.
I start with a base breakfast and lunch and whatever we are having for dinner. Then I use my xls to plug in the missing foods in order to meet my numbers. We also track through My Fitness Pal.

Eggs are a good breakfast source. If you want protein and good fat, you can add Avocados. If you're adventuresome, check for Olive Oils infused with other flavors. There is a shop in downtown Grapevine that sells them and you can taste samples.

I disagree

I thoroughly enjoy my diet and think it is pretty darn clean. Clean doesn't have to be bland. I like meat and spices more than I like bread and sweets

funny...I just sent my wife a text giving her the heads up...no sugar and no grains for me going forward until I can drop 25 pounds and then from there on I will treat myself occasionally - I know myself, there can be no cheating until I hit my weight or I will never get there - extreme is what I have to do and I am bound and determined to get rid of this damned tire around my belly!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Do it man. That's how I had to do it to get started, then it just got to be a lifestyle. I think you'll be surprised with a little daily physical activity how fast you can do it. Just know, it goes the other way just the same...

FWIW - I've been working at it since Jan 2016, I've lost about 60lbs. Never counted one carb, calorie, gram of whatever, or any of that. I sometimes look at it, but you know what's healthy and what isn't. In my opinion, portion size is probably the biggest factor of a diet.

So in october of last year i completely cut all sugar (reading labels, i mean no sugar) and went very low carb (less then 40 gr day). I also began walking 2.5 plus miles a day, vigorous walk, sweat and elevated heart rate, even run a small part of it. I have lost a whopping.....10 pounds. Yes, i went from a couch sloth sugar carb eating machine to a diet conscious quasi excernut with less then exciting results bang

Now i will admit that i feel a whole lot better then i did, a whole lot. But the lack of any real weight loss has been discouraging

I may be way off and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong. When I was really getting it, I stayed at x weight for about 4 weeks, finally decided keeping the same diet/work out routine had essentially caused me to plateau on my weight loss. So I really picked up the intensity of my "workouts" for a week or two and it started back up again.

I think there's a point somewhere, probably different for everyone, where the instant diet changes do their thing, but then your body catches up, same for workouts. That's when you have to crank it up to keep it going. Have to burn more cals than you consume, however you want to do that.
