I recently had my gas tank out of my 1978 Ranger Bass boat doing repairs. I noticed that the silicone around two of the large washers (that go to the motor mount bolts) was peeling away so I pulled the rest of it off, intending to go around the washers and put new stuff on. Well I forgot and I reinstalled the gas tank. My question is since it is on the inside and it is not likely water will get that high without sinking first. Do I need to go back in and put new silicone around the washers or just not worry about it? Appreciate any advice.

as long as their is good silicone on the outside and its not leaking, you should be okay.

i use 3m 4200 when i install a jack plate.
