Fished a creek deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and caught some super colorful Longear. The bite was solid for about two hours. Fish were holding close to grass beds in about 3 to 4 feet of water. The creek had good flow, clear water, and was in great condition. The Longear were healthy and full of fight. Rounding out the catch were some nice Bluegill and a couple of bass. Fish were caught on both live worms and Gulp Alive Night Crawlers. All fish were released to fight again! Some very peaceful fishing in the Texas Hill Country! It just don't get any better! fish

The Hill Country's got some extraordinary fish in it but I think the Longar are the most beautiful. Not to mention the fact that the they go thru a couple of color changes most years. Nice report and trip, Chuck!

Those are some head turning Longear Chuck woot

We don't have the orange belly version up here, it's more turquoise/gold dominant and some of the Rivers in ETX have a deep rust color.

The places you fish are incredible. thumb

Nice fish. Love the colors.

Side note. Wonder why the color tone is so different in other areas?

Thanks Gitter and Fishbonz for the replies. cheers Gitter: Water conditions and the area I think are a couple of factors that play a part on fish colors. There is a lot of limestone in that area which helps keep the water crystal clear. Water quality I think is a huge factor on color tone. Just my two cents. 2cents

Side Note: The spawn is the biggest factor! hmmm
