I use a hoop type net with a rope tied to three points of the hoop. Mine is about 36 inches in diameter and I put a rock in the bottom to sink the net. Google "pier net for landing fish" and it should bring up some photos. I bought mine from an Academy store near the coast

You can find lots of them in Galveston at bait and tackle shops or online.

leadergrabber easy to copy cost under $5 if you have a drill and a dremel and some sandpaper to round off edges.
