Any ideas of the impact of rapidly changing water levels on the spawn.
We have had a lot of rain. The Mississippi is flooding so the tva has closed the spillway here on Kentucky. Local paper reports a million gallons a second over the spillway...but I don't believe it. Water has gone to three feet above pool and is gonna go another three feet. Current is very low.
Fish are on the beds. Water temp is approaching 70.

Down here in South Central Texas the spawn is on! We have had a lot of rain this year but it has really slacked off the past few weeks. Still seeing a lot of fish on nest. I think in areas that have had a lot of resent flooding especially creeks and rivers a lot of eggs may have been washed away! Depending on the water body and the amount of rain that area has had will play a factor. Just my two cents. Side Note: Water bodies down here are in great shape. If we get three spawns this year along with good conditions we should have a pretty good crop of fish for a couple of years to come!

The great thing about blue gills is they will spawn on full moons all through the spring and summer. Ours have been spawning since the March full moon.
I doubt the rising water level will hurt the spawns...but if it should, there will be more as summer goes along.

Does anyone know if Fairfield is still harboring giant bluegills? I know that lake has gone through a ton of changes the last few years, including some major fish kills a few years back. Just curious.

Just curious. Last post I have seen on Fairfield was last year. Seems that the lake was starting to hold some fish!

Get off the main lake and get into the sloughs. Gonna be tough chopping, but if you want to find spawners it's the only way I know of when the water is rising like that. Main lake spawn for sunfish is normally later anyway. Also, what Meadowlark said!
