I'm wanting to install some underwater LED lights on the back of our deck boat, so we can float at night.

Any recommendations for the make/model of light? How many lumens are considered bright? I want it pretty lit up - preferably blue smile Thanks!!

You better check with the local Game Wardens/Coast Guard first. Citations have been written bc of these Lights. That includes the pretty lights above water. Research First.

I have green leds under my rubrails. More than one gw said ok to have them on when not under way. I would think if under water they would not be visible to confuse other boaters ( who are unable to tell which way a 16 ft long green light) is traveling.

For what reasons were the citations written?

I didn't get a citation. Different gw's asked me to turn the ones under my rub rails off while under way. They said it over powers the red and green navigation lights and might confuse someone into thinking they were approaching on my starboard side. They said when drifting or anchored I could have them onfor fishing.

The purpose of my LED lights is to light the water up for night time floating/swimming, so I will be fine there.

I'm hoping someone can recommend some bright LED lights for the transom area.

Uncle, I didn't mean to veer off your topic.
I got my LED strips on Amazon. They were pretty cheap and lasted about a year. My fault in that I bumped a dock and pinched one strip and they both shorted out, burned out because I kept trying to use the good side that trip until they all quit.
I saw some round underwater ones on Amazon and eBay. I have no experience with them though. From my research I think I would spend a little more for good ones though. Maybe someone who has some will chime in for you.

I do know that the lights will attract lots of bait and all their predators.

I've got a plug light. Tied it into my anchor light. Works good. I've got the smallest one.

Thanks Cory. Funny you mentioned that light, as that was the company I was looking at. I was thinking about getting the 8k lumans version - either the drain plug one and/or the transom mount (links below).

However, I read an Amazon.com review on them and it said there was no way it was pulling that much power. I don't have enough knowledge on LED lighting to know. Anyone else know of this company and their products?

No idea how much power it draws but its bright. Only downside if you wire it in your anchor light is that you can't turn it off if you want too. The light is very visible in your wake.
