I'm looking for suggestions on ways to get rid of bass. I manage several small ponds and as anybody knows it's a constant battle to keep numbers down. I am looking for someone who wants some fish. I have simply ran out of places to put them.

I'd really like to find someone that would like to eat them and then I could just put them straight into ice cooler .

Chelsea FC, quick question. I have 4 tanks on our place with 3 stocked. One is pretty small and now only holds mostly dinks. Are they stunted permantly or can I move them. Also if I can just fill a cooler with pond water and catch all the dinks And move em?

One easy way to turn small bass into big bass is when you catch small ones, just snip a gill, throw 'em back, and a big bass will eat them.

I've seen so many "pond experts" say you should just throw them out on the bank...but that only feeds the coons and other scavengers. That's a complete waste. It takes an estimated 10 pounds of forage to add 1 pound of weight to a bass...so why waste that valuable forage it took to grow the small bass when you can easily return it to your ecosystem.

First choice would be to eat them or find someone who will but that isn't always a good solution when you have ponds. IMO, the next best route is to snip a gill and turn the small ones into big ones.

Meadowlark,

Good idea. I had not thought of that.

We talking gill or fin?

In my experience they bleed out and die fast if the gills are damaged and bass dont love to eat dead stuff per se.

So we are saying a gill right?

I have a 10 acre pond that has not been managed for years. Not even sure lives in it. Maybe I can help take some off your hands?

Dump 50 pounds of crawfish every 3 weeks in season. Not sure where I read that but it apparently helps the genetically stronger fish dominate and grow.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

I have a buddy that would take as many as you can give him, but he would want them alive. Let me know if that will work for you and I'll put you in contact with each other.
