The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

I have a Shimano Thunnas...HD Baitrunner spinning reel and it can handle just about anything. Mine has some years on it but has held up well.

That's a few generations old, as far as I know.
That said, I have an 8000D which I have abused as both a surf and offshore reel and it has held up great. I had to send it in for service due to sand/gear incompatibility, but that's the cost of surf fishing with an unsealed reel.
