 Northern carp season starts off with a bang

Finally got out for my first carp outing of the season. Ice is thawing in some of my spots, I've been ice fishing since December, felt nice to get out on open water again. Feeding windows in near freezing water (about 35 degrees) are very short, took over 5 hours to get the first bite. But once they turned on, my friend Phil and I landed a double to kick off both of our season, and another carp lost near the bank about 20 minutes later by another friend Definitely the way to start off the carping season.

My buddy is into photography as well. Many spots still covered in ice up here, this one had icebergs floating by all day. We standing on a thawing sheet of ice in the pictures.
