Hey guys, long time lurker here. I've been getting into native tanks lately and I'm wondering if anybody knows a decent spot to catch a few orangespotted and or green sunfish near the Austin area. I don't care about size in fact the smaller the better (unless it's bass food size then that's bad). I've got a new 125 gallon coming in. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Waller Creek, near the convention center, has greens, as does Shoal Creek in Duncan park.

I don't know about orange-spotted, but I may have caught a couple years ago in LBL where Shoal Creek enters it...
Good luck!

Salado Creek in San Antonio is loaded with Green Sunfish. The Comal has a ton of Red-Orane Spotted Sunfish.

Bull Creek District Park by FM 2222 and 360 has plenty of them in smaller sizes. Caught this little guy out there a couple of weeks ago.

But as mentioned earlier, Shoal Creek and Waller have plenty as well as Barton Creek. If water moves, it probably has some greenies in there. I'd say it's harder to find water that doesn't have them then water that does.
