Howdy everyone! This past weekend Gar1970 and I decided to go to Espantosa to see how active the alligator gar were. We arrived at 10:30 and launched the boat and headed out. Threw out our rods and waited. Meanwhile we fished for crappie. We got our first bite at 12:30 and i caught one that was 60in on carp.  At about 1:00 Gar1970 caught another one about same size.  We ended up catching 5 gar and 17 crappie with a 14in being the biggest one.   In the morning we headed out to The Upper lake to fish a little more. We stopped to pic up a subway sandwich. We launched and headed out for some shade, it was pretty hot that day.  we had our sandwiches under this tree. We headed out after a good munch. We caught 2channels   both caught on jigs. We caught this pregnant rio  She was so fat her scales were protruding! Caught her on a jig also. We caught 5 more keeper crappie. A grand total of 22 crappie 13 perch and 2 channels.  It turned out to be a great weekend!

That looks like a great fishing trip...several meals of everything fish...what recipe do you use on the gar?
