Doing a little camping and fishing at Purtis Creek the next few days. Fished this afternoon and the fishing was pretty slow. Water temp was 62 and fairly windy. Only caught one about 3lbs on a frog. Any suggestions, colors, etc would be appreciated.

Agree, with this wind and cloudiness I'd be throwing moving baits.

Spinnerbait/chatterbait/square bill

Or, find the biggest swimbait in your tackle box and throw it all day.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. The guy who caught the 10 pounder was brim fishing with a long crappie pole off of the dock. It was a nice fish!!!!!!!

A general bass fishing question here. I tend to be a bank beater fishing shallow water with deep water very close. I'm not sure how to fish a lake with timber or when to fish it, especially when it's not close to shore. During this time of year what defines shallow? Just trying to learn.

The spawners can be almost on the bank. When I take my boat out there I usually fish around the cat tails. I will be out there this weekend taking my kids camping, not sure how much fishing I will get to do considering their attention span only last a few minutes.

Thanks for the help. Fishing was still a little slow but landed 4 or 5 on a chartreuse and white chatterbait today.
