Dad and I will be in Conroe for the whole weekend. Not my first classic, but it's been a while.

I read that BASS is not providing an escort for the anglers from the lake to weigh-in. Has anybody else heard this? How can they leave the best anglers in the world to navigate one of the worst highway systems in the state? Hope this isn't true.

What's with everyone thinking that these guys can't navigate down a road? They drive thousands of miles a year in all kinds of traffic, weather, etc. I'm fairly certain they can make their way downtown and will have made the drive from the lake several times before the event begins. Most have drivers taking them down anyway while they rest and handle their business, talk to sponsors, manage their social accounts, etc. It's not that difficult and it's not the end of the world. They'll make it down and be fine.

It is true. I'm sure they will be just fine.

Non issue. Having rode in the Escort during every TTBC they are better off without it and I am sure the feel the same. Most I have rode with mentioned how they would rather be without the escort. They are going the opposite way of traffic: 105 to 45 to Hardy toll right to Minute Maid.

Saturday and Sunday should not be an issue. Friday could be a bad deal.

I doubt 45 is the worst in the state or does Houston have the worst system. All it take is a drive thru Dallas to realize. Now if u mean more traffic, well u got us.

Friday will be fun.

Actually BMCD, Houston traffic is extremely bad. Not like Atlanta, though definitely worst than Dallas on most days. DFW area can really lock it down though.

Houston traffic isn't that bad if you know how to navigate it and the alternate routes. If you just run around aimlessly then you can run into a mess. Trans Star is a good site before freeway driving. I always check it out. There are some days when no amount of route checking helps.

They have more options now should there be something like a wreck on I-45 South. The best route from the lake is 105 to I-45 to the Hardy Toll Rd which runs right into Minute Maid. The last south part of Hardy goes thru a less than spectacular area but not that bad. Plus they are headed there before the peak traffic hours which start at close to 5 pm. Later headed south.

South bound traffic isn't usually that bad. It probably will back up a little before getting on the toll road. They should be able to make it on Friday in just over a hour. Saturday and Sunday probably 50 minutes. I lived just minutes from the launch for 10 years and drove to close to Minute Maid daily. Going with the traffic usually I could be home in 50 to 55 minutes. It was 45 minutes on a day with no traffic. Some days it was a hour and a half. They have improved the freeway quite a bit since then.
