Yesterday I fished a solid 8hrs. Only graph I had on was the front and had my DS off. Caught first fish 15min into tournament. Put it in the box and filled it up. Turned recirculate on and kept on fishing. After all day in a 400yd stretch we got ready to crank up and battery was dead. Should my pump drain my battery after 8hrs?

Thanking it is a bad battery or you didn't get a good charge. Before you replace call the dealership or do some research on the battery you need. If it is cranking a 250 Yamaha then it has to be the best you can get to run all the stuff we run in a days time.

If you have a lower cca battery it can drain it enough in 8 hrs. to not have enough to crank your outboard.

Was your pump running the whole time? If it was on a timer - like a 3 or 5 minute intervals I would say bad battery, if it was continuously on for 8 hours I would recommend buying a timer.

Yeah it's at least 4yrs old. Thanks for the replys. I'm going to take it off and check it out. It showed to be fully charged. Also, pumpnwas on full time. I have a timer switch and never even used it. Will check that also and see if it works.

I would recommend getting a battery that is a dedicated cranking and deep cycle AGM. Had the same thing happen to me... 2 HDS 10's w/ SS and live wells running on a timer all day, wouldn't crank my big motor. It was a 3 year old flooded lead acid cranking battery. Made the switch to Interstates Marine AGM. No issues cranking my 250 Vmax now!

I'm not sure if I have room for another battery. I was hoping to just upgrade and be done with it

agreed, wasn't suggesting adding another, suggesting upgrading the dedicated cranking to a cranking/deep cycle hybrid AGM
