Never had a problem with a properly tied Palomar. Exactly. I use the double Pitzen for large baits because it is strong and the loop for the Palomar would just be too big going over a large swim bait.

I use the Shaw Grigsby/double pitzen knot with 3-4 wraps. I used to not believe in the palomar for fluoro, but over time using this knot for fluoro and hearing from enough guys that use only that knot, I believe a properly tied very slobbery palomar works just fine for fluoro. One guy I know has caught a lot of huge bass at Bell using 25lb fluoro with only palomar knot. It is what it is.

Uni or orvis depending on the size line. I prefer the uni on heavy line.
The only rules that matter are Murphy's.

I'm glad you guys can keep a Palomar from snapping. I've used that knot my entire life and have never had it break with mono as it does with Fluorocarbon. Even ask an Elite Pro what he used and low and behold a Palomar knot. He even showed me how he tied it--nothing different than I do. BUT he won't use anything but InvisX for normal applications---AND he changes it "EVERY" day.

This makes me laugh... literally don't have a single buddy who ties this any more. It does fail' Often and is IMHO the worst possible knot for fluoro. Double uni for me

Too each his own. If tied properly and wet, it doesn't fail.

Doubled uni Easier for me to tie than the doubled San Diego jam For me, it's the most reliable for all line types Versatile knot--if you cinch it early, you make a loop knot. If you make a very long tag end, use it for drop shot. No problem using it for crig line to swivel on both sides of the swivel this is what A-Martins uses & Palamar will break on a hard hook set

If you tie the Palomar (correctly) you really don't even need to wet it but I do anyway. If tied correctly it only gets tight right at the eyelet of hook, split ring or eyelet of the bait you are tying on. The double line MUST be side by side and not crossed and the loop must tighten down between the eyelet and the knot. If tied correctly it will not fail on any line.

I love the Shaw Grigsby Knot and have not broke it off yet. It's easy to tie also. I tie it with Fluro on everything and I use it on my big swimbaits with Pline Cxx.

love the palomar for mono however articles indicate this is not a top choice for fluorocarbon. Versions of the slip knot eliminate crimping fluorocarbon. The uni-knot, Shaw Grigby's knot look strong.

Alberto knot for joining line, Palomar for all crankbaits, and a double Pitzen for Texas Rig, Jigs, and Swim Jigs.

I use 2 knots. A Palomar for everything except tying braid to flouro, then I use a double uni. When you tie a Palomar right after you loop the lure thru you need to pull the knot out before you start tightening it. If you get the curly line your doing it wrong and it burns the line.

I tie a Palomar with flourocarbon, wet it good, and I don't remember the last time a had a break off. Looks like quite a few use it to me.
