Just wanting a report from whomever has used the BPS Johnny Morris Titanium reel. I'm thinking of buying one and would like to know your opinions.....thanks....

Buy Lew's much better.

I thought Edwin Evers used them all last year and ended the year by winning the BASS Master Classic? If true, then I'd say if they are good enough and reliable enough for EE, then they would do well for me..

How so? Many of the parts are interchangeable with Lews.
The brand new John Morris has a very striking resemblence to Lews reels.
The gears in the Carbonlites/Titanium are the same as Lews.
I have rebuilt many of my Lews with Carbonlite and Pro Qualifier parts.

I'll let you know after fishing classic at bps reel trade-in program.
I plan on getting 1 or 2 then. much lighter than older ones

I bought one last year when they first came out. I was attracted to the higher retrieve ratio (8.1) and the 19lb drag. I wanted to try it as my worm reel. It was my first BPS reel and I have to say its been impressive. My other gear is all higher end Shimano but I'd definitely buy this BPS Titanium reel again.

Just got a few more. Slowly replacing my PQs. They r nice. Check out the new carbonlite 2.0s too.

if you suggest an alternative you need to back up the statement with some "facts" ........ not alternative facts but easons as to why the Lews.

As with anything, do you really get what you pay for!! Many reels are good for a few trips out. Just because Evers fished ""ONE"" tourney or even one season with these reels is not a testament to their quality/longevity. Also keep in mind these guys get the best of the best from their sponsors. Do you believe that BP would send Evers "Anything" that was not tested above and beyond what you buy off the shelf?? I could see it now--The BASS cameras rolling and Ever's reel keeps backlashing and he throws it in the lake. That would not be good for BP!

You see a lot of discussion here on TFF about Lews/Shimano/Abu Garcia. Rarely do you see anything on BP/Quantum/Diawa and others. I personally have owned several Quantums and Diawas over the years and can say for a fact that quality/longevity should not be included in the same sentence with these two brands. I have had nothing but bad luck with either of them. In fact there is a Diawa at the bottom of Lake Belton that got pitched over 20 years ago. I would not wish "High-Priced Daiwa Junk" on anyone. BUT this comes back to my very first comment, Do you "ALWAYS" get what you paid for?? Use to be true but not any more!!

To add to this.....EE gets around 80-100 of these reels in various ratios. When one gives him trouble, he has several more to "re reel" a rod with. That said... the reels are really not bad, and yes, they are very similar to a Lews Tourney Lite.

I do know that, yes, the reels are simply off the line. It is up to the angler to oil em and maintain them. At least the guys I know that have big sponsors...that is their case. That's what the hotel room is for in the evening. It's actually a fun time. Drinking too much beer and eating junk food and working on equipment.
