I got 4 new reels for Christmas and was thinking of putting Hi Vis yellow line on them. What brands have you guys had your best results from and where can I get it on the 1000' to 1500' spools?

I use Mr. Crappie Hi-vis line in 6 lb. I get the smaller spool but I know it used to come in a big spool but I am not sure how many yards it is. It's the best hi-vis mono out there IMO. I get it from Academy.

Mr. Crappie...for the cost you can't beat it.

Suffix Siege Hi-Vis Tangerine is the very best mono I have used for crappie fishing. I
have been using it for 3 years now.

I prefer the Bonehead hi-vis myself...it is a quality line, virtually no memory, and very good strength relative to line diameter. Depending on the structure you are fishing, you may want to spool up with assorted line sizes. I typically spool up 2,4,6,8, and some braid on different reels, then use what the situation calls for...in the past, I have used the vicious with good results. Hope this information helps.

in mono i like mr Crappie in 8 lb test hi vis yellow.....but my fav is Power Pro "Slick" in 20 to 30 lb test in hi vis yellow..i fish brush and boat slips a lot and mono of any kind just gets frayed too easy where Braid just lasts all year and has zero stretch and much better sensitivity to detect even the lightest bite!

I agree with this comment about braid and would expand on it a bit...although I dont like hi-vis braid, (I prefer black) the strength/sensitivity of braid is necessary in a majority of my fishing outings. I like the Power Pro slick, as it is not hard on the rod guides... but also really like the Bonehead 12 for the same reasons...plus you can break it off if you need to for some reason. Also, I seldom use braid in clear water anymore, unless have no other option.

I have tried the Mr. Crappie hi vis in the past. I use spinning equipment for crappie, and my level of frustration with that line was considerable...It was ok for the first time or two after I spooled it; after that it was aggravating to say the least...seemed like I spent more time worrying with the line than fishing...so I would respool and drive on...anyway, that is my experience, and I would suggest there are many good mono, flouro and copoly lines available that will fit the bill, just try to determine what your use is going to be and what your needs are. Good luck and good fishing! 2cents

I use 6 lb Mr. Crappie hi vis mono on my dock shooting rods and 10lb Sufix 832 hi vis braid on all the others.

I been using Cabelas Ripcord yellow braid 30lb. It seems to tie better knots for me with lots less backlash or wind knot problems depending on the reel.
