From what I can see there is a new version 3 of the lakemaster midsouth chip but I can't see if version 3 is the standard chip or the plus chip or if both standard and plus have an upcoming version 3.

Anyone know - tried hummingbird customer service and they new less about it than I did.

Thanks

I callled Humminbird customer service yesterday regarding my Lakemaster midsouth lakes card that I ordered on 1/13 that is backordered until 3/7 to inquire as to WHY it is backordered until 3/7 and the lady I spoke with told me that the person that would know the answer to my questions is in a meeting and I should call back another time.

I am not mad and am really not in hurry to get my card but I am very surprised that a company of this size would have such an uninformed person manning the phones.

Get the part number and goggle it. You'll probably find the chip and it will be cheaper and likely with free shipping.
Be aware when buying LM chips from anyone. They may say it's the new version but you get the previous one because they are trying to purge older stock. Also, HB does not release new versions on all of the areas at the same time, so you have to know what you are looking at. If you order a V3 and you get a V2, send that puppy back.

If you talked to a switchboard operator, I can understand ignorance of product releases, etc. If it was customer no-service, then they should know.

I can find the part number for lakemaster mid south v 3 which is out of stock or backordered one every site I checked but its doesn't say anything about "plus" which is why I called hummingbird - since I wanted the plus chip just wanted to know if both plus and regular were getting v 3 or if they are only releasing the regular v3 I would just go ahead get v2 of the plus if there was no release date for plus v3- she said same thing they don't always update both at the same time but she said they usually do - she said watch the internet -

Also same here - not in any real hurry I can just use my navionics chip for a while but didn't want to get plus v2 and then 30 days later they let out plus v3.

Seems they would have more accurate information at customer service.

Version 3 is standard chip. The current Plus chip is V.1. As it is the first generation of Plus. Here is a link to current cards
