Headed to Fairfield Saturday morning but I haven't been on the lake since way before the fish kills. Just wondering if anyone had any info on the bite? Shoot, I haven't even been on any like in over six months so just getting out will be a pleasure. Any small bit of info that you might be willing to share would be a help. Thank you for your help in advance and hope that everyone has those fishing days that dreams are made of.

You can flip craws or creature baits just about anywhere on the lake along the reeds and catch good numbers. If it's cloudy a spinnerbait or chatterbait have been very good too. I am curious to hear how people are getting the 18"+ keeper fish because for me they have been hard to come by.

Try a chug bug or popper type bait on outside of reeds over grass. Also look for shoreline drops close to secondary points. Chunk up shallow where you can see bottom and work it back to the drop. They use to sit on the drop and crush it and usually bigger fish. If grass up shallow on surface in those areas try a frog also. Flukes and wacky rigged for numbers. If in reeds spawning got to in after them.

I caught around 70-80 pounds last Sunday in 6 hours of fishing. Best 5 would have been around 22-23 lbs. Almost all of them were caught on a SK frog. Green pumpkin/pearl. I caught two very nice unders on my NuTech jig. And 8-10 3 pounders on my biffle bug.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

May have to try a cold water lake just to fish. Will post up afterwards, whichever way we go. Good fishing everyone.

Pretty much every Saturday and Sunday from now till March there will be tournaments on every power plant lake in the area. Just go fishing... get there early before they can take off or show up a little late and fish till dark... the lake will be yours from 245 till dark.

I was there tuesday, for my first time. Did really well, and I'm camping there for more this Fi-Sun. I'll be trying to pattern fish over 20" Practicing for a kayak tournament. I had a solid day, caught too many fish, mostly 17"-19" range. All feisty and fat. I had a couple of monster get off

Gonna give it our best shot and see what happens tomorrow. I'll post up when we get back and hope we have some picture fish to show for our effort.

What a stellar day we had on Fairfield yesterday considering all of the boat traffic and the fact that we had boat issues and didn't get to start fishing until after 10:00. We boated about 35 fish and the best 5 overs would have gone between 20-22 pounds. We stumbled on the fish right off and banged them out pretty good, stopped biting so we moved off then came back in a bit, BAM, same results. Long story short, every time we hit this hole during the day we caught fish, with 8 being over 18". We did use a creature type bait but in a unique color that I had never seen before until I dropped into my local tackle store on Friday. I know this post ain't worth squat without pics but trust me when I say it happened. It was one of the most exciting days on the lake in a long time. Funny part about where we found these fish, I didn't see another boat fish it all day which was unbelievable considering there were probably 100 boats or more.
Good fishing to everyone and stay safe. Oh, and I lived up to my screen name. I broke fish off on the hook set 3 times, lol.

Sounds good to me!
Thanks for reporting back. Sometimes guys ask for information about an upcoming trip and then never report back on how they did. Seems a little rude lol
Props on the great day!
