Seems like every 3rd or 4th trip, I'll catch a smallmouth on Ray Roberts. They are there, but I don't think it's a large enough population to intentionally target. I guess my only advice would be to find rock and crank (although the last few smallmouth I caught out there were on plastics).

Thanks jbcarroll3000, it's sounding like I'll need to venture out to Texoma or Grapevine to target these guys.

Ya'll have a good one!

I have caught 2 small mouth on Lewisville, but it was several years ago. Ray Roberts you can catch a few by covering a lot of water with square bills and hit only the rocky banks. Still not the best lake to chase after them on.

caught probably 30-40 last fall and about 10 early spring, but thats probably in 30 trips so they are not real common of roberts. Like others have said if you want to catch some texoma is your best shot, just about any rocky main lake point will have some squarebills-10ft diving smaller profile cranks and finesse worms or small creature baits will be your best bet on a shakyhead or drop shot.
