There has been some work on biodegradable filters. Some even have flower seeds in them.

Then there is the argument that more people will throw them out and start fires if they think they are not so bad about littering with them.

They sale ashtrays that fit in the cupholder. Pretty cheap too.

I always enjoyed writing tickets for littering when people would do that'. They were always shocked and in disbelief that they couldn't throw lit trash out of a car.

One lady asked me what she was suppose to do with them? I replied "your car has an ashtray, find it and use it." She responded "that's gross and will make my car stink."

The weird thing is cars have stopped having ashtrays. What did they think would happen? I say ban filters. A plus would be smokers would die sooner.
