On the market for a new graph, wanting a 12" unit for my console. The Lowrance HDS 12 Touch, or the Helix 12. There is a big price difference but it's because of the touch screen. Does anybody have any input as to which would be the better deal? Really want the touch screen unit but would be more than happy to save some money with the Humminbird. Any tips or advice is appreciated!

imop I would go for the lowrance. So many people have them and are willing to help with any question and very few complaints..

I have a couple Gen2 HDS12s, no complaints from me. They work really well, still learning them but i know what they are capable of

Love my gen 3 HDS 12.... It's nice to have that touch screen when your marking waypoints... The screen is different then the gen 2's... The gen 3 has a glass type screen where the 2's have a plastic type screen or whatever you might call it... In my opinion it's a lot nicer to have both touch and buttons..

I just looked at both Lowrance and the bird. I like them both so I think I am getting both. The Lowrance up front and he bird in the back. That should solve which one.

You won't be able to share waypoints without manually moving them from one unit to the other. Bad idea. No redundancy either. If you had one brand, you could put the working unit in the spot you need it most as the cables are typically compatible within brands.

I am not worried about sharing waypoints. Install and cables are a piece of cake for me. I like the regular sonar on the lowrance and I love the mapping of the bird.
