thought i better pass this along before somebody else trashes any baits. i noticed some tiny gaps in my devcon coating on some baits (knew i should have been wearing my higher power glasses when i cleared them). i used superglue to fill the hollow spots. worked great! clear and smooth. however, you could still see indentations where the repairs had been made. oh well, a thin coat of devcon will smooth everything out. brushed on the devcon, put the baits in the dehydrator to set up the devcon and after an hour at 110 degrees let them cool before i took them out. normally hard as a rock. that's when i knew i had a problem. the first one i took out stuck to my fingers. wth!! everywhere i had put the super glue was tacky. apparently the glue reacted with the devcon preventing it from completely curing. it's been almost 36 hours now and the baits are still tacky where the glue is. first...and last...time i get super glue anywhere near devcon. i guess if i can't hook 'em on these baits i might be able to get them to stick to them. is that legal?

Quick tip: When cutting stencils by hand put the material over a sheet of glass or other hard surface when cutting. It makes a nice clean cut whether using an Xacto knife or stencil burner. If you use a dremel tool to cut your stencils an xacto knife over glass makes it lots easier to clean up the stencils.

Picked up a stencil burner yesterday will be interesting to see how well it works on the thicker stencil material I'm using. Hopefully I can get a smooth even cut with it. Have some I want to make them at I can't get smooth enough with the dremel

The new Iwata Micron v2's come with a raised trigger. After shooting with one I decided to pimp my Eclipse. Easy mod with big returns. Much better trigger control and better ergonomics. It's important to remove the trigger from your airbrush before you begin this mod. With it removed, simply build a pad on top of the trigger with a hot glue gun. Shape with the glue gun. Warning - it's a good idea to have something to hold the trigger with as it will get hot. Easy to remove or change the profile if you don't like it. Blue Moon

Some folks on the Airbrush Forum glue down cork, erasers or polishing pads instead of building up the glue. There are a couple of YouTube videos that show the glue gun method. Search Airbrush Trigger Mod. After reviewing the results others have posted, it seems the trick is to make sure that you don't use something that creates a delay. For example, some tried felt furniture pads but they had too much give.

One day I'm going to start airbrushing my lures. But as of right now I make duck calls, how long does this finish that yall are using last? I use a CA super glue for them right now but it just doesn't keep a shine after a seasons worth of use. Does this finish hold up to abuse that well?

ok boys and girls, here's a helpful hint. now pay close attention. if you use a small dropper bottle for your denatured alcohol, be sure it is prominently marked and NOT stored right next to a similar looking bottle of super glue. yes you guessed it. i accidentally put a few drops of super glue in a mix of epoxy i was thinning instead of alcohol. what a boner!

Blue Moon, do you like he eclipse? I've been thinking about getting one, but not ready to pull the trigger (pun intended). Have you shot with a neo? If so, how do they compare?

Blue Moon, do you like he eclipse? I've been thinking about getting one, but not ready to pull the trigger (pun intended). Have you shot with a neo? If so, how do they compare? The Neo and Eclipse HP-CS are both very versatile and both good airbrushes for painting crankbaits. For those looking to get into airbrushing crankbaits, either airbrush will deliver the performance you need to get started.
Iwata designed the Neo to appeal to people that want to try airbrushing without breaking the bank. If youre on a strict budget where every dollar matters consider purchasing the Neo with a discount coupon and start painting. The Neo rarely holds anyone back. On the other hand, for anyone making a buy decision and considering one over the other, if the difference in initial cost is within your budget, I would recommend the Eclipse HP-CS over the Neo for a couple of practical reasons. Mainly build quality is better, it has a few more standard features and most importantly, its upgradable. From a sustainability mindset, it will grow with you and likely last longer than the Neo. The Eclipse is a very good choice if you only have one airbrush and your intended use is custom painting crankbaits. That said, for those already with a Neo or Eclipse HP-CS in your quiver, you likely dont need one of each. When it comes time to add another airbrush to your quiver consider the High Performance HP-C Plus or Hi Line HP-CH. The HP-C Plus and HP-CH have the same outstanding features and are basically the same airbrush, except the Hi-Line HP-CH also has an internal mac valve. In the real world when shopping online on Amazon there isnt a significant difference in acquisition cost but adding either to your quiver would give you more control and potentially better end results. I would avoid eBay due to the knock off problems but Amazon usually has the real deal for great prices. If you add the High Performance HP-C Plus or Hi-Line HP-CH, keep the Neo or Eclipse and start using it to shoot thicker base coats and paints and use the HP-C Plus or HP-CH for the majority of your work. Keep in mind needles and nozzles bend and break so the Neo or Eclipse can step into the first string lineup and keep you painting until spare parts arrive.

I have both the Neo and the HP-C Plus and agree completely. Well said.
